SWARG
I figured as much.
WOGNIAN
Look, I have my reasons. She's
innocent. I want her to enjoy that,
to cherish the peace we've brought.
She may remind me of the dark
times, but she also reminds me why
did we go through all that trouble.
To protect the future. She's the
very embodiment of that future,
Swarg. That's why I should keep her
safe.
SWARG
I'd never harm her.
WOGNIAN
You should respect her opinion on
the matter, no matter how much you
dislike it. If you had a child
you'd understand.
SWARG
You're just stubborn. And so is
she. Taking after you.
WOGNIAN
A good thing if you ask me! But
look, she needs not be burdened by
the darkness and pain we've gone
through.
SWARG
I saved your life. Does it still
mean anything to you?
WOGNIAN
You think I've forgotten? It
doesn't give me the authority over
Nila's choices. Win her heart if
you desire her so, if she somehow
falls in love with you I will bless
your union. But you remember the
harshness of the war too well. She
was born in peace we bled for back
then. The shadow of the war may be
long, but it should never reach
her.
SWARG
Is that your fancy way of saying
I'm too old for her?
Wognian sighs as he looks back at the guests, chattering
among themselves happily. A clear image of their peaceful
and joyful reality. He smiles weakly, somewhat sad. The
price was high. Swarg does not seem to care as much, though.
