What is the difference between a logline and a tagline?
A logline describes the story of a film in one or two sentences used to sell the film to producers and directors.
A tagline is a short, striking slogan used to advertise a film to the general public.
A logline is descriptive, a tagline is provocative.
Example for the movie Alien (1979):
Logline: In a distant future and space, on their way back to Earth, the crew of the Nostromo is interrupted during their cryo-sleep by a distress signal. They are awakened by "Mother" to answer the call. The crew is stalked by an unknown and deadly organism.
Tagline : In space, nobody will hear you scream.
