Hello, I am looking for a director and/or producer for this script. Please do not hesitate to contact me via this site. Thomas. In contemporary France, Paris, a young man of 25, has just separated from his girlfriend, his first and only love. This break-up triggers a journey of initiation in which he must seek and find his new place in a triangle of experiences, freedoms and pleasures, all set against a backdrop of allegories to Greek mythology, as if to justify its obvious heritage in our Western world. Our hero's spelling of "Paris" differs from that of "Pâris", a reference to the mythological hero. Trapped for years in a protective maze from which he suddenly escapes, Paris discovers the world and himself in relation to it. But he'll burn his wings if he gets too close to certain limits. Rejected by a youth he no longer identifies with, and refusing the dull, monotonous status of adulthood, Paris, accompanied by his Dionysian friend Sylvain, a personification of the god Pan, and Penelope, his best friend, will discover himself to be at once Ulysses (through experience), Paris (for pleasure) and even Sisyphus (with a tragic destiny and therefore a paradox of freedom). But the border between freedom and destiny remains blurred. For while the title of the work, "Existence precedes essence", is a direct reference to Sartre's existentialism, which defines that we are born and then become what we are, Homer is quick to point out in the middle of the work that "Freedom cannot exist for heroes, as great as they were, if they are made of paper". Will our hero Paris be caught up by his destiny, or will he become its master?
