I have just published a book "Le foulard rouge" at La Bruyère (visible for example on the FNAC website). All the readers tell me that it could be the subject of an excellent scenario. My wife's Ukrainian grandmother lived through the last century paying a very high price for her survival, in her family and in her flesh. She suffered the tyranny of Stalin, then that of Hitler to finish her journey near Chernobyl, her story was written from testimonies collected on the spot.
