Leçon de géographie tells the story of Walid's exodus from his native region of Jendouba with his bachelor's degree in geography in order to get a job as a manager in an administration in the capital Tunis, where he is going for the first time. His quest for a job through applications and interviews did not succeed, which led him to give up accepting the fait accompli and to change course by first taking small temporary jobs and then move from the search for a job to learning a trade in the masonry. Hope is reborn and just as Walid starts to build a career, a work accident occurs and Walid sees his professional dream vanish. After three years of exile punctuated by harsh ordeals marked by rejection, humiliation and injustice, Walid decides to return to Jendouba without any specific goal, where he discovers, under the impulse of his friend Wafa, the pleasure and the excitement of working the land.
